Christmas Tag

Thank you to Fiona for tagging me in this fun festive challenge! Let’s get straight into it :).

1. Do you prefer giving or receiving gifts
Giving! 100%. I get weirdly anxious at receiving gifts because my face shows everything my mind is thinking and I live in fear of potentially upsetting someone if my reaction isn’t what they want it to be – silly I know but its where my mind goes!

2. Do you make and stick to New Year’s resolutions?
Nope. I make goals for the year but don’t call them new years resolutions – the connotation alone has pressure so I’m mindful of it. 2019’s year goals are to learn to play piano, paint my very first painting and hopefully get pregnant! I prefer to set smaller goals that I can achieve quicker which in turn motivates me for the next one.

3. Have you ever made a snowman?
Probably but I can’t specifically remember it. I can’t imagine me enjoying it though! I’d get all moany if my hands were super cold! I’d need some really good gloves.

4. Is your Christmas tree real or fake, and what theme do you prefer?
Ours is fake. I’ve never had a real one, even growing up so I can’t miss what I’ve never had! I do like how full real trees are though. Our theme this year is white and silver but for the 3 years previous the theme has been traditional red, gold and green.

5. Most memorable holiday moment?
Christmas day 2015, my now husband proposed to me. In our first home and on our first Christmas living together. This will be our first Christmas as a married couple. As if I couldn’t love the Christmas period anymore!

6. What holiday traditions are you looking forward to this year?
This question has made me think about how so many of our traditions are food based lol! Other than having the best food ever my favourite tradition we have is that each year we collect two ornaments (one each) to signify a memory from that year. For example, my engagement ring came in a bauble so that was my memory for that year. One day we’ll have a tree of memories and I love that, so much! This years one are related to our wedding and honeymoon. I may get a 3rd to signify my graduation, who knows.

7. What is the best Christmas present you have ever received?
The only present I remember receiving as a kid was a keyboard. I know I’ve had more but I don’t remember (dissociation memory loss). As an adult I’d have to say my engagement ring although that wasn’t technically a gift I still had it Christmas day soooo…

8. What are your favourite holiday foods?
Yessss, this is my kind of question haha! I only make cauliflower cheese once a year and as I’m dairy intolerant I shouldn’t eat it anymore but dammmmm it’s good!! I’m also a sucker for anything remotely sweet. Love it. Tis the season to smash the food (as I say).

9. What is your favourite Christmas film?
Polar express. It’s pure magic. Just MAGIC! After that, National Lampoons Christmas vacation.

10. What is your favourite Christmas song?
Have yourself a merry little Christmas
Winter wonderland
Hark the Herald angels sing (I was raised religiously and even though it’s not my life now I still love a lot of the Christmas Hymns)

11. What is your favourite thing about Christmas?

Love this question. I love it all. I love the lights, the music, the hustle&bustle, advent calendars, food, drink, cold dark nights & making memories but most of all I love the feeling of magic in the air. I have a wonderfully idealistic viewpoint of Christmas. You decide if that’s a good or bad thing.

12. What would be your dream place to visit at Christmas time?
Well Christmas day is strictly at home but around the Christmas period I’d have to say Lapland because it looks amazinggg!!

13. Who do you spend Christmas with?
When Stu and I moved in with each other we agreed pretty early on we wanted to have our Christmases to ourselves. It also avoided A LOT of family politics which worked out well. Stuart’s family live about 100 miles away from us so we tend to see mine of Christmas day evening and then Stu’s on boxing day  but our dinner is just us, with our big dinner, new jamas, drinks and then a little nap on the sofa together.

14. When do you start getting excited about Christmas?
August. I don’t allow myself to think about it all year until August and then I let it start. I’m one of 6 and an aunt to 15 so I need to start buying early on so I start buying gifts from August payday . However, I don’t tend to put on any Christmas music or films until December and we kick off all the festivities on December 1st with Polar Express!

15. You have one Christmas wish – what will it be?
I don’t want to seem like I’m copying Fiona but I’d have to say the same. A healthy and happy 2019 for all those I love – including myself.

Thank you again, Fiona. I really enjoyed doing this. I tag:
